| Description | The aim of the statistical survey on the number and composition of permanent residents is to produce and publish Lithuanian and internationally comparable statistical information on the number of permanent residents of the Republic of Lithuania by sex, age, ethnicity, citizenship, country of birth, legal marital status, distribution across the administrative units of the territory of the Republic of Lithuania, and other indicators of the permanent population. Permanent residents are persons whose usual place of residence in the reference period is in the Republic of Lithuania. Usual residence is the place where a person normally spends the daily period of rest, regardless of temporary absences for holidays, visits to friends and relatives, business, medical treatment or religious pilgrimages. Permanent residents are persons who: (i) have lived continuously in their usual residence for at least 12 months up to the reference date, or (ii) have arrived in their usual residence during the last 12 months before the reference date with the intention of staying there for at least one year. Classifications used: Classification of Countries and Territories of the World; Lithuanian Classification of Administrative Units and Populated Areas (LR AVGVK 2018); NUTS – Nomenclature of Territorial Units for Statistics.
