Description The dataset provides data from the Lithuanian National Forest Inventory (NFI) carried out by the State Forest Service from 1998 to the present. According to the Forest Law, the National Forest Inventory is defined as the state forest inventory using sampling methods. The inventory allows monitoring forest condition and change indicators at the national level and at the level of administrative units or their groupings (counties, groups of districts). This all-Lithuanian forest inventory is conducted according to a sampling scheme based on statistical methods, using a network of sample plots. This inventory makes it possible to track forest condition and change indicators at the national scale and for administrative units or their groupings. In the territory of the Republic of Lithuania, 16,349 permanent sample plots have been delineated and remeasured every five years. A “barelis” is a forest accounting unit covering 500 m² or 400 ha of forest area. More information on the forest inventory is available at https://amvmt.lrv.lt/lt/veiklos-sritys/na….
