| Description | The table contains data from the Tuberculosis State Information System (TVIS) on patients diagnosed with tuberculosis (TB), their harmful habits, diagnoses and deaths. Data controller – National Public Health Centre under the Ministry of Health (NVSC). Data processor – Vilnius University Hospital Santaros Klinikos (VULSK). Each row of the dataset corresponds to one patient diagnosed with tuberculosis. Data in the information system have been collected since 1996 and cover all persons in Lithuania who have suffered or are suffering from tuberculosis. Information is obtained from TB case registration forms approved by legal acts, whose content, following recommendations of World Health Organization (WHO) experts, changed in 2000, 2014 and 2018. It should be noted that due to these changes, the content of TB case registration definitions has also evolved over time, so attention should be paid to the methodologies in force at the time of registration. It is important to mention that a patient’s identification code does not necessarily represent a unique patient record – one patient may have several identification codes due to a change of residence or admission to a prison, therefore unique patient records are recommended to be identified using the patient’s first name, surname, personal code and the personal code validation fields. In addition, during treatment, after receiving laboratory test results, the patient’s diagnosis may change. For questions related to the data, please contact atverimas@stat.gov.lt.
