Description To address the shortage of places in Vilnius pre‑school and pre‑primary education institutions, since 2015 the Vilnius City Municipality has been paying monthly compensations to parents who choose to send their children to private kindergartens operating in Vilnius city (as of August 2025, the compensation amount is 120 euros). Compensation is granted if one of the child’s parents (guardians) has a declared place of residence within the territory of Vilnius Municipality and is paid directly to the non‑state educational institution. More information on the allocation of compensations can be found in the rules (https://aktai.vilnius.lt/document/30400626). The dataset publishes data from monthly compensation reports by educational institution and reporting month from 2018 onwards. It also shows the number of rejected, pending and approved compensation applications. Data provider – Vilnius City Municipality Administration.
